Art for Mathew is not just a hobby but the focus of his entire life. Painting from a young age, he has developed his own methods and styles, which make for unique, and dramatic visuals. Mathew was born and raised in California, home to landscapes, and cityscapes that have captivated artists for generations. As both a child and an adult, the imagery found here has always been his inspiration, and has become the focus of Mathew's art. Rather than create a painting of these scenes as he sees them, he instead paints them in a way that expresses the joy he feels when he encounters these scenes in the real world.
As self taught artist, Mathew focuses mostly on oil paint and but also works in water colors. Bright, bold, and colorful is the aim of each image. Included in some of his work, is a glowing pigment which has been added to the paint to create a secondary image that can be seen when the lights go out.
